I have wanted to write this post for years but was never able to because of my job, now I am able to freely share all my beauty knowledge and skincare favourites on Beauty Baking Bella!
I worked as a Skincare Consultant for 7 years, I carried out over a 100 facials and recommended products to thousands of men and woman, so I have seen a variety of people whom either love a skincare routine or have no idea where to start. At first, this post was just solely going to be a quick ‘this is what I am using’ post but when I sat down and started writing my bullet points on what I wanted to write, I naturally started to write tips and techniques into my notes!
Everyone and every skin is unique and different in every way! There is no right and wrong skin type to be and yes there is a difference between a skin type and a skin condition. So as I share my personal Morning Skincare Routine, I will be discussing common skincare concerns and how you can overcome them.
Now before I start I just want to state that I have an oily/combination skin type with occasional dehydration (this is a skin condition which can be treated specifically over a short period of time) There are so many different types of cleansers you can use for example –
If you don’t want to cause premature ageing and blemished/sensitive skin, DO NOT use facial wipes – they hold no long-term benefit for your skin so don’t waste your money!!
I like to wash my face in the morning because it helps me wake up and refresh my face, removing any oil built up in my pores during the night as well as any night cream that hasn’t been absorbed into the skin. This can happen if you use a rich cream or facial treatment oils at bedtime (these are great products for your skin!) I will be writing another post in the near future discussing and sharing my Night Time Skincare Routine!
I am currently using the Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Facial Wash, which is actually my first bottle and I have been using it for a few months. I previously used Philosophy Purity Made Simple 3 – in -1 Cleanser which I have used for years and I absolutely love but wanted to try something a little different and a little cheaper. I have to say, I think that this product is great for my skin. It helps to prevent blemishes while keeping my face soft and clean and using this in the morning helps refresh my skin and prepare it for the next steps of my skincare regime!
This Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic Spritzer is one of my most used and favourite beauty products! It is full of naturally active ingredients that are great for your skin like Aloe Vera, Camomile, Cucumber with the mosts refreshing and heavenly scents of Rose, Geranium, Lavender and Sweet Orange. You can use this as a face mist after patting the skin dry after your cleanser, a face wash or dampen a couple of cotton wools and lightly seep over the skin to help energise and revitalise the skin.
Using the right toner for your skin is important, I try and go for ones with natural ingredients and ones that are alcohol free so they are not harsh or drying on the skin. The daily use of a toner is great to rebalance the PH levels in the skin and soothes and clears the skin of any left over cleanser or tightness that can occur from using a face wash.
One of the first signs of ageing on the body for both men and women is the eye area! It is recommended that from the age of 25 you should start to include an anti-ageing eye product into your skincare routine, whether it is in the morning or/and in the evening!
I think an eye cream is so important for us women especially, even if it is just a simple gel or cream, not necessarily anti-ageing. Using an eye cream suitable for your needs is important and if you wear a lot of eye makeup it is a MUST to apply an eye cream/gel/lotion first to create a protective barrier onto your eye area and also this helps to stop your eye makeup from looking dry and flaky!
My go to eye product is the Clarins Multi- Active Eye which is perfect for the first signs of ageing, (those pesky fine lines creeping in!) puffiness and dark circles. The texture is gel-like and cooling and with the snazzy metal applicator it can be applied and used with this to enhance the cooling and drainage process of the product, diminishing the puffiness and darkness around the eyes first thing in the morning! I love this product!
Over the years serums have become an essential part of a skincare routine, with so many top rated serums mainly for anti-ageing my favourite has always been the Clarins Double Serum! I have used this product for so many years that I’ve seen it change and improved 3 times! Each time I love it more and the most recent Double Serum hold 20+1 plant extracts to help work on the 5 vital functions of the skin, helping add hydration, oxygenation, nutrition, regeneration and protection! As the UK’s Number 1 if you haven’t already tried this product, DO IT!! I honestly love the results I see using it daily and I really notice if I don’t use it. I use the one pump setting and use it in my morning routine during the winter/colder months.
A moisturiser does way more than it says on the packet, oh yes! This has got to be the most important skincare product you should be using in the mornings! Not only does a day moisturiser moisturise and make the skin all soft, it works to create a barrier on the skins surface as well as penetrating the skin protecting your skin from everyday harmful effects of the environment . It is also the secret to having flawless skin! Forget about your primers (yes there are some amazing ones out there!) if you don’t put a face cream on before applying your make up it will not look as radiant and smooth and it stops the makeup from seeping underneath into the layers of the skin causing clogging and creating blemishes!
I use the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel, which is a light-weight lotion that is fragrance and oil-free, which leaves my skin looking matte and feeling soft! I have tried so many different brands over the years and finally came across this lotion last year and I haven’t looked back! I use one pump in my palm, lightly warm the product up in between my palms and lightly press the product into my skin and finishing with light sweeping from the centre of my face outwards and not forgetting my neck, always patting upwards from my décolleté (I do this with my serum too until the day comes when I need a neck cream!)
I couldn’t write a skincare post without mentioning food, haha!! Last but not least the last product that I use in my morning skincare routine is the Clarins UV + SPF50. I have used this product for years and years! This is another product Clarins have changed and improved over the years! This light-weight fluid helps to protect the face from UV rays, Free Radicals and Pollution, I wear this product on top of my day moisturiser or mix it in the palm of my hand with the moisturisier and apply together. I use this product every morning, 365 days a year! It has helped stop my freckles from becoming darker and it helps prevent premature ageing from all of the environmental effects I’ve just listed! I couldn’t live without this product and I feel confident that my skin is always protected even on a cloudy day!
It can be quite daunting when it comes to starting your skincare journey but don’t be afraid to explore and ask questions. There are some amazing skincare brands out there with amazing fully -trained skincare specialists that would be happy to help you discover new products and find the right products for your skincare needs. Most skincare brands offer free personalised consultations which only take 5-10 minutes and if you want to try before you buy don’t hesitate to ask for samples (just don’t be greedy or rude to the consultants they have rules they need to stick to!)
Find what works for you, you can have a shorter routine or a longer one but remember it is an investment into your skin. You can buy a new bag but not a new face!
I hope this post has helped to inspire your morning skincare routine! Let me know what you love to use in the mornings!

Thank you for this post! I’m a dummy when it comes to skincare (routines). So this post is pretty helpful!
I’m glad it can help you. Start slowly and build up your routine until it fits your life and needs. xo
I’ve recently started using a serum but honestly, have no idea what it actually does. Definit3ly need to add some eye cream into my skincare routine.

There are so many types of serums out there it can be a bit confusing. Find one that helps with a skin concern like anti ageing or hydration, if you notice an improvement in your skin within a week or so then you know that it is working for you. Thank you for reading 🙂 xo
I love a good skincare post! These products sound lovely, might have to give a few of these a try!

I would 100% recommend them all lovely, thank you for reading xo
If you love Clarins you should definitely try it. When you are next picking up some Clarins bit ask the Consultant for a Sample to try before you buy if you are not sure. I have the Clarins Hydra Essential Moisturiser for when my skin is dehydrated which I personally preferred over the Moisture Surge but everyones skin is different, I’m glad you found a moisturiser that works for you 🙂 xo
Beautiful photos! I will definitely be looking into some of these products! Lovely post!
Thank you 🙂 xo
