Last week I was kindly invited to The Plough Inn Pub & Restaurant located in the historical village of Eynsford, in Kent for a VIP Press Night preview of the newly renovated venue.
Over the years my family and I have enjoyed many lunches and dinners at this restuarant and have always had a lovely time. So when I received my invitation to this special evening, I was extremely happy and very excited to see what they had done with the place.
I was able to bring 3 guests so I of course took full advantage of this and had a ‘kids free’ night, so along with my husband, I also invited my mum and her partner. The Plough Inn is a very special venue for my mum because this is where the two of them had their first date all those years ago and they always celebrate their anniversary at The Plough, so it was only right that I invite them both along.
Our table was booked for 7:30pm and on arrival we was warmly greeted (like always) and escorted to the newly built and extended bar area. We were then offered complimentary drinks at the bar where there was a Tanqueray Gin & Tonic station where we could create and flavour our very own glass of gin. This was such a great way to feel comfortable and at home at the start of the evening; it was so much fun adding in different fresh ingredients to create a taste I could enjoy and relax with. We then sat in the new refurbished seating area opposite the bar, with comfy and homely armchairs and a calming but warming ambiance we enjoyed some freshly prepared Canapés while listening to a live singer. After enjoying the Canapés and our personalised gin, we were shown to our table in the upstairs part of the restaurant. Our table was by the window which over looked the River Darent. As we have been here previously during the day, we know the views of the river and the surrounding woodland and village is spectacular and a perfect image of the kent life.
The menu was full of a variety of different dishes, something for everyone. From fish and meat dishes to vegetarian options. We started by ordering a bottle of red for the table and chose our starters, we all chose something different so we could really try the variety of dishes that was available. I chose the Salt & Szechuan Pepper Squid to start, anywhere I go if their is squid on the menu that is 100% what I’m eating. This was cooked to perfection, seasoned well and really enjoyable.
For my main, I chose the Lamb Koftas which was served with goat’s cheese curd, plum tomatoes, roasted pepper, cucumber and mint salad with some bread/wrap. The lamb was tender and again seasoned well and tasted incredible. I wasn’t sure if this plate would fill me up, but it was the perfect amount of food.
For dessert, I chose the mini dessert and hot drink option as I was so full from my starter and main but I knew it would be rude not to have sweet treat to end the evening. I chose the chocolate brownie and a peppermint tea.
We all had such a nice evening at The Plough Inn, the bar and restaurant looked so elegant, homely and very stylish. The service was great and our waitress was very friendly. This was another great meal at our family favourite restuarant and we are already planning another visit here soon.
If you are looking for a family friendly and relaxing place to eat in Kent, then definitely try The Plough, you won’t be disappointed.

You had me at personalised G&Ts! Seriously though, what a stunning venue and your meal choices sound like exactly what I would pick. Shame I live so far away or I’d be booking it myself! Melis
