I love cranberry sauce and this year for Christmas I have made my very own homemade cranberry sauce. This sauce is so quick and easy to make and there is so many ways you can make it. I decided to make mine using orange juice for a slightly sweet citrus taste, as I don’t like my cranberry sauce too sweet or bitter. As I’m a vegetarian, using a lot of different flavours in my food is key to an enjoyable meal and that’s no exception at Christmas. This year I plan to have a nut roast while I cook my family a Turkey, with all the usual trimmings.
Cranberry sauce is a sauce or condiment that is traditionally eaten with Christmas dinner in the UK. I personally associate cranberry sauce as a Christmas time food and find myself binge eating a jar throughout the month of December.
We love a roast dinner in our house and we must have a roast at least twice to three times a month during the autumn/winter, because why not?! Sunday is our family day and my daughter always requests a roast chicken. Roast chicken has to be my family’s favourite and cranberry sauce goes so well with white meat and all the trimmings, potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, vegetables and even my favourite sage and onion stuffing balls!
Now, I have mentioned how much I love eating cranberry sauce with my roast dinners but I have a little secret, I also LOVE cranberry sauce in my cheese toasties! I love the melted cheese sandwiched with the cranberry sauce when it is all warm and sweet. I know I can’t be the only one, have you ever tried it in cheese toasties? Definitely give it a go, it’s delicious! It will make you feel all sorts of warm, christmas feels!
I can’t wait for Christmas dinner this year and I will have a jar of my homemade cranberry sauce at the ready!
So here it is, my quick and easy recipe for Homemade Cranberry Sauce.
