Love Skin, Love Island

Love Island Sudocrem

The new winter Love Island is upon us and as one of my guilty pleasures I will be watching these singletons sunning themselves in South Africa, with all the drama, coupling and “I GOT A TEXT!” I love a bit of reality tv and the banter it brings, I can’t wait to see what this season has in store for us.

Sudocrem for holiday essential

SKINCARE FIRST, LOVE LATER

2020’s winter series of Love Island is launching in Cape Town this January. That means around 6 million viewers will be on the edge of their seats watching as the UK’s most eligible young models, influencers and sports personalities try to find love in the South African sunshine.

Unsurprising, skincare is a priority for the contestants, but who’d have thought that falling in love could cause spots? As if our Love Islanders don’t have enough to worry about in the villa!

Dr Shahzadi Harper says, ‘During puberty our hormones fluctuate, and we tend to produce more testosterone, which can cause oily skin. This means that some people suffer an increase in spots. Funnily enough, this can also happen during periods of stress, for example when starting a new relationship. When our hormones settle down again our skin should too.’

No one wants their true love distracted by that painful-looking pimple smack-bang in the middle of their forehead – let alone the 6 million other people who’re watching. In last year’s show, we saw Love Island winner, Amber Gill’s face flecked with Sudocrem before bedtime, a time-honoured way to stop nasty spots in their tracks that had fans tweeting their support.

Sudocrem Antiseptic Healing Cream is the nation’s most iconic skincare brand and is known to help sooth spots and speed up the healing process. It may come in handy to soothe dry skin, insect bites and sunburn too.
