Last month I shared my first beauty empties post and I received a lot of comments saying how you guys love to read these type of blog posts. So this month I thought I would share another one and maybe make this into a regular feature on Beauty Baking Bella.
One thing I have noticed when I’m writing these posts is how many beauty products I actually have. I would definitely call myself a beauty junkie! From facial skincare, to body care and hair care, I like to have a handful of go to’s in all these collections. I will repurchase skincare I love but I do like to try new products if it is something my skin/body/hair needs. In a way, as a skincare enthusiast, skincare is a hobby, playing and trying new products excites me. This year however, I do want to continue trying new products but I want to keep my routines the same but slowly incorporate additional products in to boost my skincare and fulfill its needs. I noticed last year, I was trying too much, too quickly and too often and as a result my skin became dehydrated and my pores became clogged. This year I plan to maintain my skincare regime and enhance the results for a more hydrated skin, preventing wrinkles and continuing to reduce my acne scars and uneven skin.
Liz Earle is my safe brand, I know whatever product I use from this brand, I will love it. Using natural plant based ingredients, Liz Earle’s Cleanse and Polish cleanser is always one I like to have in my bathroom drawer. I’ve actually lost count of how many bottles I’ve had and it will always be a product I repurchase.
With naturally active ingredients like rosemary, chamomile, cocoa butter and eucalyptus this soothing yet nourishing cleansing cream has a rich texture to instantly remove daily build up, SPF, and makeup including waterproof eye makeup to leave the skin refreshed and clean. I use this cleansing cream a few times a week and of an evening as a part of my double cleanse routine. I use one pump and gently massage the product onto my skin. I then use the Liz Earle muslin cloth with warm water to remove the cleanser and finish with splashing my face with water before continuing with a facial wash in the second step of my double cleanse routine.
If you read my post Why You Need Vitamin C in Your Skincare you would have seen how much I love the Vitamin C collection by Pixi Beauty [This product was kindly gifted to me]. As a lover of facial washes, this liquid cleanser actually surprised me. Not a usual choice of cleanser for me, however, I loved how quick and easy it was to use. I loved using it of a morning when I needed a quick skin routine before the school run. Using my reusable cotton pads I would wipe this cleanser all over my face and neck and instantly feel refreshed and clean. With the beautiful scent of orange flower water, my skin looked brighter and my skin looked like it was glowing. I definitely would love to purchase this and continuing using this when I need a quick start in the mornings.
Fresh beauty is a brand I discovered through Instagram. Fresh is known for its vegan products and natural ingredients so I purchased the Soy Face Cleanser and the Rose Floral Toner in their travel size to try it out. I was so happy I did, I fell in love with both of these products and I will be repurchasing them in their full size. The Soy Face Cleanser, is so delicate and refreshing on the skin. My skin feels clean and smooth and it really made my skin happy. I would then follow it up with the Rose Floral Toner for an instant hit of hydration from the infused rose water. I’m a sucker for anything rose and I have tried a few rose toners, this one has to be my favourite!
Caudalie is a brand I was introduced to with my Birchbox subscription. After some research I discovered their Vinopure range, specific for blemish prone skin. So I purchased the Clear Skin Purifying Toner and this Blemish Control Infusion Serum. The toner is one I have repeatedly repurchased, the serum however, lasted a lot longer. Over time using this serum, my blemishes were drastically reduced and my skin looked more even and toned. I liked this serum and it will be another skincare product I will repurchase.
My hands are up, I 99.9% purchased this because of the hype on social media! Every other beauty blogger was raving about how much they loved this product. As someone who has a oilier skin and loves a pink clay mask, the 0.01% of me needed it. So I took the plunge and purchased a jar of Sand and Sky Australian Pink Clay Mask from Cult Beauty. For once the hype was real, this clay mask was easy to apply and easy to remove, my skin instantly looked brighter and my pores minimised. Will I repurchase it? I’m not sure, the price of £39.90 is a bit steep for me for a mask and I get the same results from similar products with a cheaper price tag.
Neutrogena is a brand I have used since I was a teenager. Some of my favourite skincare is by Neutrogena and when I saw the Hydro Boost Eye Wakening Gel-Cream I knew I had to try it. I need hydration in my eye cream and a gel like texture is just perfection to me, so this was a win win! I loved how soothing and awakening it was on my eyes first thing in the morning. Its gel like texture is like a drink of water, instantly reducing puffiness and dark circles while protecting and hydrating my eyes. I will be repurchasing this after my next rotation of eye creams. I like to have a few and use them in rotation, so my eyes always have something new depending on my skin concerns at the time.
Deciem’s The Ordinary has to be one of the most talked about skincare on social media. It’s so affordable and literally has every skincare acid you never knew your skin needed. The Ordinary Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate 10% was a product I purchased to add to my night time routine. I have a lovely collection of The Ordinary products but for the first time I was disappointed. The texture was light but not very moisturising, it felt like I was just applying a layer onto of my skin like a mask. I didn’t see any difference to the appearance of the texture of my skin. It hasn’t put me off the brand though, as not every product is going to work for everyone. The great thing about this brand is that it is so affordable you can afford to trial and error with their skincare.
Another gifted product I received as a Skinfluencer for Dermalogica, the Skin Smoothing Cream was one of the first products they sent me to try. It has been my go to moisturiser for my post workout routine. With an Active HydraMesh Technology this cream ensure at least 48 hours of continued hydration. With Hyaluronic Acid to hydrate and Vitamin C and E natural anti-oxidants to protect the skin. Read more about my thoughts on this product here. I would 100% recommend this moisturiser for any skin type!
Another vegan skincare brand loved by all on Instagram, Drunk Elephant. The hype surrounding this skincare brand lead me to purchase a handful of travel size products from Drunk Elephant and this Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil is the first of them to have finished (they last for ages!) I love a facial oil before bed and this one was what it says on the bottle, luxury, such a treat for my skin and it really helped my skin feel smooth and bright. I think the expensive Drunk Elephant price tag will keep this in my wish list on Cult Beauty until I can treat my self to this facial oil. If you want to invest in a facial oil, definitely consider this one.
Glossier is a brand I have wanted to try for a long time, so I thought I would start off with their best selling iconic Balm Dotcom. I chose the Mango flavour as I love anything mango and it did not disappoint. This universal skin salve is so good for dry lips, knuckles, to fix eyebrows in place and so handy in your bag when you are out and about, or applied to lips and around the mouth before bed. This year I will definitely be trying more from Glossier.
Last but not least, a hair care empty. The Percy and Reed Volumising No Oil Oil is a product I received in a Birchbox a while a go and this product has lasted me a long time. I use this no oil oil on damp hair before I blow dry or even air dry. I also used it between washes on the ends of my hair to hydrate the dry ends and add life back into my hair when I didn’t want to wash it. I want to add this to my hair care wish list to buy when I get through the rest of my hair care collection (I have a lot to use up).
That is everything, all the beauty empties from the month of December. Let me know if you like seeing these sort of posts from me and I’ll make sure to continue this as a monthly feature on Beauty Baking Bella.
