At the end of last year I was kindly sent some items from a brand called Super Facialist. I had never tried anything from this brand before but was intrigued as I had spotted them in Boots on many occasions and was interested in the types of products they had.
I was sent a day cream and a night cream to try alongside some of their brand new Retinol products, which I will talk about in another post.
My skin type is combination to oily but can become very dehydrated, which some people get confused with dry skin. Dehydrated skin and dry skin are two different skin issues. Dry skin is a skin type where as a dehydrated skin is a skin concern that can be treated with products/treatment and disappear. Dry skin, however doesn’t disappear but is managed using good skincare. I am prone to dehydrated skin because I am in and out of the house a lot being exposed to different temperatures, hot and cold, as well as pollution, exercising and walking can strip the water from my skin leaving it feeling tight and looking dull.
So when Super Facialist asked me what products I would like to try, I chose the following:
Vitamin C Skin Defence Daily Moisturiser
Hyaluronic Acid Firming Super Lift Night Cream
Skin always changes due to environmental factors, lifestyle and diet so it is important to listen to what it needs and for me my main skin concerns have been dehydration and dull skin. So for the past few months, I have been putting these two moisturisers to the test to see if my skin improved overtime. Firstly, lets talk about what each of the products super powers are.
Now that I am in my 30’s, looking after my skin is more important than ever and during my skincare journey I discovered a love for Vitamin C in my skincare. This daily moisturiser helps to promote collagen as well as increases the density of the skin to protect and strengthen the dermis as well as the epidermis of the skin. The ingredient complex of Hyaluronic Acid and Ferulic Acid, with its rich anti-oxidant richness helps to hydrate and smooth the skin to promote healthy glowing skin, while smoothing those fine lines and wrinkles that may be creeping in.
I loved how light in texture the Vitamin C Skin Defence Daily Moisturiser is. It kept my skin looking hydrated and radiant especially on those days where I didn’t wear any makeup. I felt good in my skin and felt confident my skin was protected. The only down side for me was I don’t like how perfumed it was. As I am a migraine sufferer, I have to be careful what fragrances I put on my skin and unfortunately after some time I did have to stop using this product because it kept setting off migraines. However, if you like pretty smelling skincare products, this refreshing citrus fragrance is a great way to wake and prepare the skin in your morning routine. Read more about why I love Vitamin C in skincare here.
I love applying a rich and comforting night cream on my face before bed. Even as someone who has a slightly oilier skin, it doesn’t bother me if the cream I apply is not light or gel like in texture. I take comfort that my skin is repairing as I sleep with a great product layered on my skin. This Super Facialist Firming Super Lift Night Cream works while you sleep to optimise cell renewal. With Hyaluronic Acid to hydrate the skin while you sleep, the firming peptide with sweet almond oil helps fight those signs of ageing to plump skin and smooth uneven skin. The natural fragrance of this product is more gentle for my little head. I found the scent mesmerising and it actually gave me a nostalgic feeling of my childhood. I would sit and watch my Nene (Nan) in Cyprus doing her skincare and the scent reminds me of a cream she used to use years ago.
The texture is rich yet luxurious and so easily absorbs into the skin. It has become my go to night cream on the days I don’t use facial oils or retinol.
I loved the results from both the day and night cream, but unfortunately I wouldn’t personally purchase the Vitamin C Skin Defence Daily Moisturiser because the fragrance was too strong. However, I loved the Hyaluronic Acid Firming Super Lift Night Cream and would definitely love to have this in my night time routine all the time. The smell, texture and results make it the perfect night cream for my skin. Next time I see this brand in store I will definitely be picking up some other bits to try.
Both these products are priced at £16.99 and available online and in store at selected retailers:
superfacialist.co.uk, Boots, Sainsbury’s and Amazon
