Winter Skincare Dermalogica

We all know that the weather can cause havoc with our skin but with simple adjustments to your daily skincare routine, balance can be restored and honestly, your skin will love you for it!

HELLO DERMALOGICA!

Dermalogica is a brand that I will always reach for. Their skincare products are ones I can trust to take care of my skin, especially when in need of some TLC. I’ve mentioned before in my posts that my skin type is typically combination – oily and normal. However, one skin condition I find myself constantly battling with is dehydration. I’m a very active person, I’m always in and out the house, on school runs, meetings, events and play dates as well as regularly exercising. My skin quickly loses water and moisture even though it can be oily in certain places, like my t-zone. By carefully selecting my skincare products I can have more control on how my skin can improve as well as finding a good routine that I can stick to, especially during these colder months.

DERMALOGICA’S WINTER SKINCARE PICKS

A few months ago, Dermalogica sent me a selection of products for Winter Skin and honestly it was perfect timing. So I’ve spent the past few months trying the products to really see what works with my current routine and how my skin looks and feels long term instead of just waiting for results after day one. The products that I received included:

I usually like to review products individually but I don’t want this post to just be a ramble of what products I have. I’m going to change it up and talk about them in two parts starting with which of these products didn’t quite work for me and then what products I loved and have become my go-to in my winter skincare routine.

WHAT PRODUCTS DIDN’T WORK FOR MY SKIN

The Dermalogica Precleanse Balm, a balm-to-oil cleanser was just too rich for my skin. I found it difficult to rub into my skin and found that its texture wasn’t right for my skin. I’m a huge lover of their Precleanse as it’s an oil texture and I feel it works better for my skin type. If you have a dry and sensitive skin, this would be so comforting and a great way to start your double cleanse routine. Unfortunately, it just didn’t feel right on my skin.

The Dermalogica Intensive Moisture Cleanser, was a hard one for me to categorise into like and dislike as I did like this cleanser; I felt it really cleaned my skin but again, as someone with an oilier skin, the texture was just to rich compared to what I prefer. I again was comparing this to their Special Cleansing Gel which is much better for my skin for daily use. Again, another product that would really benefit a person with a dry and sensitive skin.

The Dermalogica Moisture Balance is a comforting moisturiser with the benefits of vitamin C and anti-ageing but as good as this product is, again it was a little rich in texture compared to my normal creams. I sound like a broken record!! However, the texture was too rich for my morning routine but was ok for my night time routine. I did find that my skin felt too greasy from daily use, so using this a few times a month as a treatment instead of a daily cream worked to comfort my skin.

WHAT PRODUCTS I LIKED AND SIT ON MY VANITY

Okay, now for some more positive reviews, the Dermalogica Barrier Defense Booster, a gift from the skincare gods!! When I first opened the box I’ll be honest I want sure how I would get on with this oil booster and where it would fit into my routine. Ha I was so wrong! I love this product! I use it of an evening up to 3-4 times a week after my serums and before my night cream. The Barrier Defense Booster is an oil booster formulated to calm and prevent irritation on the skin especially from environmental assaults. It helps with reducing redness, blemishes and makes my skin feel so soft and hydrated. This has to be one of the best facial oils I’ve used in a long time.

The Dermalogica Nightly Lip Treatment is another god send, a product designed for the lip area to slow down ageing and those fine lines, it helps to restore balance to keep lips soft and smooth as well as adding protection to keep lip looking and feeling great! With a very sophisticated applicator which aids application by massaging the light product on the lips and around the lip area with a comforting cooling affect. This innovative lip treatment should be on any woman or man’s night stand.

The Dermalogica Rapid Reveal Peel is a product I was so excited to try. Now that I’m in my 30’s, anti-ageing and prevention is important to me. This small yet effective at-home peels are easy to use and apply with amazing ingredients like photoactive AHA extracts, Lactic Acid and fermented plant enzymes. This small super product helps to reveal healthier looking skin, smoother skin texture and firmer skin. I don’t always schedule in facials (I know I should) so these are a great way for me to have 7 minutes of me time for my skin. If you are new to skin acids like AHA, don’t fret as this is so gentle on the skin. Dermalogica actually recommend using one tube every day for three days and then once a week there after. Don’t forget to use your sunscreen the next morning, which you should be doing anyway!

Finally, the Dermalogica Redness Relief Essence is a product I have used before and have spoken about on my instagram page. This essence fits in beautifully with the rest of my routine. Mainly of an evening, after I cleanse and tone my skin, I use a 20p size amount on my palm and using my hands, gentle press the liquid into my face and neck. I love how this product helps with sensitive skin, irritations and even blemishes. This product is a skincare essential for that time of the month when skin can be more sensitive and prone to redness. This is another product that is great to have on your vanity for easy access.

I hope you have found this post helpful and you may have discovered some new products from the holy grail of brands that is Dermalogica. If you have any questions about your skin or want more details on what other products they offer then definitely check out their great website!

Until next time,
