Eating porridge doesn’t have to be boring! You can literally add whatever you fancy to your morning breakfast! This post follows on from my previous food post Turmeric and Spinach Eggs Recipe where I spoke about how important the first meal of the day is! A good and hearty breakfast is a healthy way to start the day for the mind as well as the body! Creating a warming and positive meal is a great way to start the day as it means you will be more likely to continue the day eating well rather than snaking on ‘bad foods’ throughout the day. I love porridge during these cold winters months, as it helps to warm my stomach before heading out into the cold.
Porridge is the ultimate superfood, full of fibre and protein. Oats are known to reduce cholesterol and are very good for your gut health, helping your digestive system work smoothly! Oats are also great for your skin as it works as a natural cleanser helping it stay clear, smooth and glowing! Your morning oats will give you a boost of energy and its full of antioxidants- what more could you want from this nutritious breakfast?!
I have mentioned on my Instagram that I have cut out milk from my daily diet as well as dramatically reducing other diary products such as ice cream and cheeses. By doing this I have more control over my overall health, controlling my migraines and IBS pains. Its been nearly a year since I switched from cows milk to almond milk and most recently to soya milk. I honestly can’t believe the difference this has made to my health, body and even my skin is much clearer. If you are unsure about what food intolerances you have, even if its slightly affecting you, keep a food and drink diary and note down the bad days. Start by cutting these foods out slowly and see if that helps. Alternatively, I have friends that have had allergy tests carried out which has highlighted what food intolerance they have!
Coming back to breakfast and porridge, you will be surprised how quickly you can prepare and cook a healthy and exciting porridge meal for breakfast. Set your alarm for 10 minutes earlier to give you plenty of time to have breakfast before you leave the house in the morning. You will quickly notice that after having breakfast first thing, it will make you feel happier, healthier and more positive!

Ooh that sounds delicious too! Thank you! xo
Always loved porridge, but my favourite was topped with sugar, butter and cinnamon! But since starting a healthier lifestyle I have switched my toppings to fruit which is lovely too. Great recipes to try here!!
