The Meze Turkish Grill

January 27, 2017

Last night the whole family went out for dinner in celebration of my Mum’s birthday. We surprised her and took her to a restaurant she had never been to before, one that we had all been to and enjoyed before.

The Meze Turkish Grill in Bexleyheath is our closest Turkish restaurant (yes, even though we are Turkish we still like to go out for turkish food!) Hubby and I first ate here with friends in the Summer of 2015 when I was pregnant with our second and we had such a lovely time.

The food and service did not disappoint us last night. The waiter was kind and helpful, he said he had only been working there a few weeks but was doing an amazing job! He was brilliant in recommending food and portion sizes and every little thing we requested he provided. The food was hot and delicious and as a Turkish person, I have been to many Turkish restaurants, this one definitely stands out from the rest, I’m not surprised they won the award for “Best Restaurant Outside of London” at the British Kebab Awards.

From the main menu the seven of us shared two Hot Starter Platters, which had sigara börek, calamari, sucuk (turkish spiced sausage), halloumi, fried breaded prawns and grilled mushrooms. We also ordered two Cold Starter Platters, which was a mixture of hummus, cacik, taramasalata, couscous salad and olives and turkish pita bread to start. We then ordered two Mixed Kebab Platters, which was full of all sorts of meat, a selection of chicken wings, chicken shish, lamb köfte, döner kebab and lamb chops which was all served on a bed of rice and bulgur with a large side of a scrumptious mixed salad. There was a lot of food and we took home a little doggy bag of what was left over.

My Mum had a lovely time and we had such a great experience at The Meze, great atmosphere, great service and amazing food. If you are local to Bexleyheath and haven’t tried this restaurant yet, get booking as you are missing out!

Here are a few snaps of our delicious food from last night..
