I love packing for a holiday in the sun, especially when it includes all my summer favourite hair and bodycare. The refreshing scents of Aloe Vera, Coconut, Jojoba all take me to sunset views when I’m all refreshed after spending the day covered in sun cream and sand and the warmth radiating from my skin from a day in the sunshine. I love that feeling! I love to pack all the essentials and take as many travel-sized products as I can. In my head the smaller the product the more I can take, right?!
I do try to take only what I need and again my notebook and pen comes out and I start making list of all the beauty products I’m going to need. So of course, the minimum essentials one must take are a tooth brush, toothpaste, deodorant and insect repellent. Sun protection of course comes as standard too! But those little holiday luxuries, those holiday favourites that will be engrained into your memories, the gorgeous summer scents from the products will always give you holiday nostalgia.
Let’s start off with my collection of haircare products. I’ll be honest, I think, no I know, I have more haircare products than bodycare, but we’ll go with it anyway.
The haircare products I have packed include:
Bumble + Bumble Invisible Oil Primer UV Protection
A few of the OUAI products came as a limited-edition travel set from Cult Beauty which I thought were the perfect sizes for what I need them for. I use these products anyway and want to keep my hair routine as easy and simple as possible. The leave-in conditioner is exceptionally great when you have washed your hair after a day in pool and sun and your hair needs some nourishment.
The Sun Bum and Bumble and Bumble products are great to keep my hair protected from artificial heat and natural heat of UV rays. I always wear a hat in the sun but I like to know I’ve got that extra protection for my hair and scalp.
A Tangle Teezer. Everyone needs one. Full Stop.
Last but not least, hairspray. You can’t go wrong with a classic L’Oreal Hairspray. This always keeps my hair de-frizzed after styling and works well to fight humidity for my hair. You can always grab a travel sized version instead of the classic tall cans. It’s always in my toiletry to keep my hair tamed!
Just like my skincare, I like to stop using skincare actives/acids on my body about two weeks before a holiday. This just allows my skins sensitivity to decrease and to keep my skin healthy and soothed. So, I like to be mindful when it comes to what body products I use and how many. Really, the most important things are a good body cleansing wash to wash away the sweat, sun cream, salt or chlorine followed by a soothing, hydrating and nourishing body cream/after sun.
The body products I like to take are:
Nuxe Sun After Sun Hair and Body Shampoo
Hawaiian Tropic After Sun Exotic Body Butter
I also love the Nuxe Multi-Purpose Body Oil; I have a large bottle which I use to fill my small travel bottle with to travel. This is the most perfect shimmer body oil that just makes your hair and skin glow especially after a day in the sun, even if you are not tanned, this works beautifully too.
I also like to take the Frank Body Coffee Scrub for a little gentle exfoliation while I’m away. This just makes me feel more confident about my acne scars because no matter how much sun cream I wear or how much I keep these areas in the shade they always look darker and more predominant when my skin is tanned. The Frank Body Coffee Scrubs just help me keep my skin renewed, clean and prevents darkening of my scars, ingrown hairs and my skin from developing a breakout from all the sweat and sun cream.
Lastly, I always travel with the Avon Skin Soft Dry Body Oil. Now, it doesn’t officially state that it repels mosquitos but it actually does with its Jojoba and Citronella oils which really does prevent those pesky blood suckers from ruining your skin (and holiday). On my last holiday, the one evening I forgot to apply it I got three bites on my legs and it made me so sad as they became swollen, itchy and scarred my skin. I won’t make that mistake again.
So, there you have it, what bodycare and haircare I’m packing for my summer holiday. What do you think?
Let me know what your essentials are and what you can’t travel without in your bathroom toiletry bag.
Love & Light,
Pinar xo
